Back in 1992, I was lucky enough to capture one of Mia's powerful performances on the stage of The Colourbox, in Seattle WA. Mia gave me a gift that night that has connected me with some of the most amazing artists, women and men, in film, music, and writing. Over the years, she has given countless gifts to all who have come to know her through The Gits, (now defunct) Home Alive organization, her many friends and fans, the film, and (of course!) her music/voice and family. Although she was taken from us, her voice will never be silenced! Happy Birthday, Mia! -Lucy Hanna
